Embryo Transfer Course

The embryo transfer course is a two-day,pre-symposium course that consists of one day of lectures and one day of practical exercises and demonstrations.

This two-day course is intended for veterinarians with no or limited experience in equine ET. Lectures and hands-on, live-animal, in-person laboratory session will provide veterinarians with all the practical and clinical insights needed to start embryo transfer in their practice. Five recognized experts in equine embryo transfer will guide you through all the intricacies of embryo collection, evaluation and transfer, as well as the management of donor and recipient mares.

  • Searching and Evaluation of Equine Embryos
  • Recipient Mare Management
  • Transfer of Equine Embryos
  • Cooled-Transported Embryos
  • Problems Encountered in Equine Embryo Transfer
  • Embryo Vitrification
  • Thawing and transferring ICSI embryos

Day 2: Hands-on exercises

  • Embryo collection (hands-on, individual exercise)
  • Embryo searching, evaluation and preparation for transfer/transport (hands-on, individual exercise)
  • Embryo transfer (demonstration of manual and Wilcher techniques)
  • Conditioning embryos for cooled transport (hands-on, individual exercise)
  • Handling and thawing of vitrified and slow

Participants in this course can purchase access to the video recordings of all other pre-symposium workshops (except the ET and Semen Handling courses). Venue

On Day 1, lectures will take place in Ieper at the Kazematten, 100m from the Novotel Hotel. On Day 2, the wet labs will take place at the KEROS ET Center in Beselare. We recommend the Novotel Hotel for your stay in Ieper during the course or one of several hotels in walking distance from the marketplace in Ieper.

Date

8-9 October, 2024. Lectures start on Tuesday morning at 9:00 in the lecture room at the Kazematten, Ieper. The course ends on Wednesday afternoon at 17:00.

Registration

The course is limited to 15 participants (strict full-is-full policy). Registration fee includes coffee breaks, lunches on both days, dinner on Tuesday night, and transport from Keros to Ghent on Wednesday evening. Participants to the course can purchase the video recordings of all workshops (the ET and Semen Handling courses are excluded) for viewing during three months after the ESER symposium has taken place. Participants must be registered for the ESER 2024 Symposium to be able to register for this course.

Fee

This workshop is currently SOLD OUT. To get on the waiting list click on the button below. ET course 1,745€ (excl. 21% VAT) includes lunches and dinner on Day 1, and local transport from and to hotel. Access to the video recordings of the ESER workshops during three months 95€ (excl. 21% VAT). The hotel stay in Ieper is not included in the registration fees.
