PERIPARTURIENT COMPLICATIONS IN MARES

This workshop will focus on problems during late pregnancy, parturition and postpartum care in the mare. Expert lectures, case presentations and interactive discussions will help participants gain more confidence in the diagnosis and treatment of periparturient issues, spanning from prepartum placentitis to postpartum metritis.

This workshop will offer the perfect forum to discuss the latest diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in the field. This workshop is aimed at veterinarians who have working knowledge of all aspects of caring for pregnant mares, parturition and postpartum care on breeding farms. The workshop will provide updated insights in the diagnostic strategies, treatment and expected outcome of common periparturient diseases. Participants will be invited to submit questions and cases in advance of the workshop. Residents-in-training are encouraged to attend this workshop and benefit from a reduced registration fee.

  • Placentitis
  • Hydrops
  • Ruptured prepubic tendon
  • Postpartum haemorrhage
  • Retained placenta
  • Postpartum metritis
  • Selected obstetrical cases
  • Abdominal hernia

The course is limited to 40 participants (strict full-is-full policy). Registration fee includes coffee breaks. Participants must register for the ESER 2024 Symposium to access this workshop. Participants in a workshop can purchase access to the video recordings of all pre-symposium workshops (except the ET and Semen Handling courses) for online viewing three months after the symposium.
